A day at Chakan!

So finally after 4 years of wait. We finally were back at Chakan. This we wouldn't include me as last time around I couldn't go. But this time I was all ready. But some of you would wonder what is there at Chakan. Well Chakan is home to Bajaj's Pulsar production plant. Chakan not only has a huge production plant there but also a race track to test the bikes. And it was the test track that we all were interested in because were going to test ride their new Pulsar 200s (unfortunatly 220s were not available - Bajaj has stopped the production of the bike till june 2007)

Our schedule was simple. Meet at "Joshi wade wale" (a road side snacks bar), discuss all about what to do and what not to at BAL (Bajaj Auto Limited), move from there to BAL via Talegaon, regroup at Chakan (in case anyone was left behind), have lunch, factory visit, discussions and then RACE TRACK TESTING of the P220 and finally dinner at Panchil club. Once there Vibhu Rishi (The guy who created the group) gave some tips of what to do what not to and importantly he said - NO CRASHING.

Riders

We moved from there in a cluster formation with me and Vibhu leading the group to the BAL plant.

Once there we were welcomed by the BAL team and taken for lunch there. And soon after the lunch we moved conference and unluckily for us Photography was off limits :( . We were divided in groups of 10 and taken to the Aluminium factory, Engine assembly and last the bike assembly. It was wonderful to see the whole bike come together. After all this we were back in the factory to talk to the R&D team, the marketing team and the sales team.

After an hour of discussion we moved to the race track. This is what we all had come for. Nomads had come from Banglore, Hydrabad and Mumbai to pune for this event - to ride the new pulsars on the race track. Race track is special for us because it doesn't have anyone or infact anyone moving on the track, also race tracks are designed with curves which make them fun to ride. With gear on all of us waited to get hands on the bikes. Since bajaj had kept only 4 bikes, I had to wait long before I could get my hands on the P200.

With the Bajaj team. These guys (including the marketing team) made it possible.

Oh ya! Thats me :)
